Dan, Sean & I just returned from a 3-day trip to Indianapolis where we visited a zoo, a childrens' museum, and my family. Let me tell ya, our son never ceases to amaze us when it comes to disrupting his routine and taking him out of his familiar environment to travel.

Our intention was to hit the Indianapolis Children's Museum on Thursday evening, but those plans were scrapped when we couldn't get near the Children's Museum -- let alone inside it -- due to the fact that a new exhibit just opened up and it was the first Thursday of the month so it was family free night. After nearly 90 minutes of trying to navigate downtown Indianapolis and moving slower than a snail's pace (and this is after the 3-1/2 hour drive down there!), we chose to hang it up, grab some McDonalds, and go back to the hotel for the evening. Amazingly, Sean was extremely mellow the entire time! The only thing he started begging for was some juice (right now, all liquid is "juice"), and he didn't even ask for that until we were a few minutes from the hotel.

The weather was gorgeous on Friday. Perfect zoo weather! So we went there around 9:45am and explored the zoo and the butterfly garden until almost 1:00 when we decided to go back to the hotel to see if Sean could/would have a nap. As it turned out, I got in a catnap myself as Sean slept. Then we went to my uncle & aunt's house on Friday after Sean's short nap (he only slept about an hour & a half, but it didn't seem to matter, as his mood was surprisingly pleasant on Friday evening!).

Since the July 4th weather left a lot to be desired, we went to the Children's Museum that day. And as luck would have it, they're having a Star Wars Clone Wars exhibit going on, so Daniel was in his element! I'm still not sure who had a better time at the museum: Sean or Dan (?).

Unfortunately, due to the icky weather on Saturday evening, Dan & I decided to take Sean back to the hotel rather than try to keep him awake and entertained while confined in a non-moving vehicle waiting for fireworks to start. Turned out to be a good decision too because the fireworks ended up being cancelled.

Though I wish we could've spent more time with my family, the three of us did have a wonderful time together! We had our own little family vacation in there, and I know how blessed I am to be able to have that.

One last thing I can't help sharing (it didn't occur to me until I was loading the vacation pics that we had these):

Sean -- July 2009
These were taken in the same rocking chair in my aunt & uncle's livingroom, almost a year apart. I can't believe it! My baby isn't a baby anymore. He's a little boy. *sigh*

Yes, he is indeed a little boy. And an adorable one at that! It does go by so fast, doesn't it?!
